While career development and true cultural immersion are lifelong endeavors, we make the process of securing an internship quick and easy. Six simple steps and you will be involved in an unforgettable experience that will truly give you an edge in life.
Step 1: Review the website and submit a Program Inquiry Form

Be sure to review all program materials in detail that relate to the program in which you are interested. Once you have reviewed the information, please complete our brief program inquiry form, found on each location page, which helps us better understand the program in which you are interested. Please be sure to enter your phone number so that we can contact you within 2 business days to discuss your goals.

Step 2: Program Proposal and Enrollment

After reviewing your program inquiry form, one of our dedicated program consultants will be in touch with you to discuss your goals for the program and conduct an eligibility review for the program you are thinking about. Once we have determined your eligibility for the program, we will send you a customized program proposal for you to share with your family, friends and/or faculty advisors. Your program consultant will then ask you to submit our online enrollment form and a copy of your updated résumé so we can proceed to the next step in the enrollment process. A non-refundable enrollment deposit will be due within 7 days after submitting your enrollment form.

Step 3: Internship Sourcing/Placement Options

Once we have assessed your resume and program goals, we will work on your behalf to begin crafting the perfect internship experience. A placement with a company or organization in Italy will be based on the following four factors:
- Relevant Experience -- Placements require that interns have some formal training, university level study or previous professional experience.
- Program Duration -- Generally speaking, the longer your internship placement lasts, the better the placement as the company knows you will be there longer and therefore they will provide more responsibility.
- Your Career Goals – Lastly, placements are influenced by the experience you wish to gain from your internship as described in your enrollment form. Please be honest and specific with this section of the application.
- Language Proficiency (if applicable) – Most placements in Spain, Italy and France require a minimum level of language proficiency, some more than others, and depend heavily on your level of proficiency at the end of the language portion of your program. Remember, the progress that you make in the language is dependent on you!
***Our program consultants are able to provide examples of what might be available for you based on your specific background.
Step 4: Interviewing

Business is very much conducted in person and because of this, for most locations it is not possible to arrange confirm placement prior to your arrival in country though your internship is guaranteed. You will meet with an on-ground representative and internship consultant during the first days of your program in order to discuss placement options. Company interviews will be scheduled after this initial meeting. For some of our locations, you will receive a full description of your selected placement and host company prior to your departure along with your accommodation details and in-country information packet.
Step 5: Internship Placement

In general, for those participating in a 4 week language component, an internship can be secured and confirmed by week 2 or 3 of your first month of language study. For longer programs, placement will be confirmed closer to your Internship start date so that we have a better estimation of your Italian language skills.
For internships in very specialized placement areas or for those with minimal language proficiency and/or professional experience when starting a program, the internship search may need to be extended through the final week of your language study.
Step 6: Progress and Follow Up

We will be monitoring your progress for the duration of your internship (and language training, if applicable). If you need assistance or would like to make adjustments, we’re here to ensure your satisfaction. To help differentiate yourself in the global marketplace, you will receive a statement of reference from your host company upon successful completion of the program.
ITEMS TO NOTE:
Enrollment Deposit Payment Deadlines

Places in Global Experiences programs are often limited and applications are considered on a rolling basis, thus applications are assessed as they arrive and programs are filled accordingly. Global Experiences suggests participants apply a minimum of 3 months prior to the start date of their selected program. Each program start date has an enrollment deposit payment deadline so be sure to inquire within to learn of the deadline for your program. Payments must be received by the enrollment deadline in order for your application to be considered.
Late Enrollments

In some cases, enrollments may be accepted after the enrollment deadline if the program still has availability. You are encouraged to email the appropriate program consultant or call 1-877-GE-ABROAD if interested in a program for which the enrollment deadline has passed. A late enrollment fee may be required so please check with a program consultant for further information.
Promotions & Discounted Programs

Global Experiences occasionally offers promotional or discounted program fees for a limited time. Only those candidates who submit the requisite materials and meet the stated requirements of the promotion during the specified time frame will be entitled to the promotion or reduced fees. Candidates who complete an enrollment prior to or after the run of the promotion will not be granted the discounted program offer. If Global Experiences is offering more than one promotion at one time, candidates are only eligible for one promotion.
Pre-departure Information

Once we receive a full program payment, we typically send a pre-departure pack of information as it relates to your program and its host city and country. This information includes more detailed information regarding your accommodations, the city you will be located, a Lonely Planet guide (depends on the program), a Global Experiences t-shirt (depends on the program), suggested reading materials, maps, and other useful information.
